Alla fine del XV secolo, quando nell’area caribica comparvero gli spagnoli, nelle Piccole Antille, per lo meno da Trinidad alla Guadalupa, vivevano gruppi di amerindi, noti con il nome di “Caribi insulari” e subito definiti “cannibali”. Di loro, d’altra parte, spesso si ricordano soltanto l’aspetto bellicoso e l’antropofagia.
